چکیده

Emerald ash borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis is a buprestid species native to Asia, where it pest of trees, Fraxinus spp. Since was accidentally introduced the United States in 1990s, this beetle has become one most destructive invasive pests North American trees. In 2015 found attacking white fringe tree, Chionanthus virginicus, indicating potential for host range expansion. This study evaluates responses two larval parasitoids, Spathius agrili and S. galinae, EAB larvae infesting novel plant. Third fourth instar reared with tropical laboratory were inserted into green tree bolts. Infested bolts exposed gravid females both under no-choice galinae choice testing conditions. No-choice indicated no difference parasitism rate on between either parasitoid species. Two-choice also when an option. Sex ratio brood size unaffected by substrate EAB, but emerged sooner can be successfully parasitized These results indicate that have attack tree.

Optimization of trap color for emerald ash borer (Coleoptera: Buprestidae).

Field assays were performed to determine the optimal color for Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) traps. Previous studies have found that more A. planipennis are caught on purple or green traps than traps of other colors. In three studies, we evaluated various shades of purple, wavelengths of green (500-570 nm), and greens of different reflectance (from 9 to 66%). In all te...

Parasitoids Attacking the Emerald Ash Borer (coleoptera: Buprestidae) in Western Pennsylvania

Field surveys of the emerald ash borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire, and associated parasitoids were conducted in Cranberry Township, PA from 11 Mar to 23 Oct 2008. Several species of parasitic Hymenoptera were collected from EAB-infested green ash trees or reared from late-instar EAB larvae, prepupae, and/or pupae. These included Balcha indica (Mani & Kaul), Eupelmus pini Taylor (Eupel...

Economic analysis of emerald ash borer (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) management options.

Emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis (Fairmaire) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), plays a significant role in the health and extent of management of native North American ash species in urban forests. An economic analysis of management options was performed to aid decision makers in preparing for likely future infestations. Separate ash tree population valuations were derived from the i-Tree Street...

Development of a host-based semiochemical lure for trapping emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae).

Bark volatiles from green ash Fraxinus pennsylvanica were tested for electrophysiological activity by Agrilus planipennis using gas chromatographic-electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) and for behavioral activity using baited purple traps in Michigan. GC-EAD analysis of the headspace volatiles of bark tissue samples from 0- and 24-h-old fully girdled (stressed) ash trees showed that the lat...

White Fringetree as a Novel Larval Host for Emerald Ash Borer.

Emerald ash borer is an invasive Asian pest of ash species in North America. All North American species of ash tested so far are susceptible to it, but there are no published reports of this insect developing fully in non-ash hosts in the field in North America. I report here evidence that emerald ash borer can attack and complete development in white fringetree, Chionanthus virginicus L., a sp...
